Join Ward Melville Heritage Organization (WMHO) educator, Deborah Boudreau and special guest, radiologist and history of medicine hobbyist Dr. Paul Fisher of Stony Brook University for an exploration of the historic Thompson House, home of 18th century physician, patriot and farmer, Dr. Samuel Thompson.
We will explore the Thompson diary and home to learn the philosophy behind the techniques used in Dr. Thompson’s medical practice. We will compare and contrast the medical challenges Thompson faced in treating his patients, the tools he had for diagnosing them, and what medical breakthroughs were achieved during and after his era.
We will also attempt to situate the Covid-19 pandemic within the history of medicine to gain perspective on its place in the history of disease.
When: Wednesday, May 12th at 8:00PM EST
